Amazon Jungle Excursion:
2 Days & 1 Night
Day 1
We move to the picturesque port of Bellavista-Nanay, and board the boat that will take us to our Eco Lodge across the Amazon River. We will make a stop to observe the Union of the Amazon and Nanay rivers to observe the colors of these two waters merging, but they do not mix evenly and create a spectacular sight.
We continue the journey of approximately 1 hour navigating a natural wonder and the largest river in the world while enjoying the beautiful scenery. There’s always the likely possibility of seeing pink and grey freshwater dolphins and birds such as herons and kingfishers, as well as observing villages along the riverbanks including the communities of the Florid district.
Upon arriving at the Eco Lodge, our staff welcomes you with a refreshment with Amazonian fruits as well as provide information about our facilities and location of their respective cabins.
Enjoy a fresh Lunch from the region that is prepared with local products.
After lunch, we will visit a primate reserve called "Monkey Island", where we will learn about 10 species of primates typical of the Amazon as: Woolly Monkey, Spider Monkey (maquisapa o mono araña), Pygmy Marmoset (mono chichico), Howler Monkey (mono aullador), and many other species. The Monkey Island is a center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and liberation of primates which are victims of trade and illegal hunting.
We will partake in artisanal fishing excursions of piranhas and other typical fish of the Amazon as well as observe pink and grey river dolphins with the option to swim in the Amazon River.
Enjoying a quiet sunset in the Amazon River while we have dinner and tastings of exquisite regional cocktails.
At night we will walk to observe spiders, frogs, and snakes while listening to the different sounds of nocturnal animals that inhabit the jungle.
We will spend overnight at Iguana Lodge.
Day 2
We will start our first excursion by boat at 5:00 am with a magical tour of the Yanayacu river to see the sunrise and observe the activity of the fauna in the area such as birds and dolphins.
A regional breakfast with local fruit juice will be served.
Breakfast is followed by an ethnobotanical trek through the jungle in order to learn about Amazonian medicinal plants and the relationship they have with the people who inhabit the jungle. We'll also observe different types of trees.
We will visit the native ethnic Yaguas where you will learn about their customs, experiences, and performances.
A nice afternoon break in the hammocks will be followed by a regional lunch.
Returning to the city of Iquitos, we will stop to visit the "Fundo Pedrito" which is a breeding center of 3 species of animals very representative of the Amazon such as: Paiche which the largest fish in the world of Freshwater, the White Cayman, piranhas and we will also observe the biggest aquatic plant in the world called "Victoria Regia"
We continue the trip back to the city of Iquitos and will transfer you to the airport or to your hotel.
